The best way to spend a vacation is to lodge temporarily in a mountain, near a river or lake or in a farm where you can stay and enjoy doing some of the things which you don’t when you revert to your actual world—to the world of work, to life. Staying with nature gives you the best momentary isolation from the world of work. The cold and clear waters of a river or a lake, the pristine and verdant beauty of the forest or mountain, the sweetness of the bird’s song on top of forest trees, the chirping of cicadas, the earthly smell of the soil, the primitiveness and spontaneity of living in a cabin send but one message—nature communicates to your soul. It only takes a man in solitary willing to explore the beauty of nature and be one with her. Do you remember the great American author Henry David Thoreau? Though more of an exercise of philosophical experimentalism, Thoreau’s stay in the Walden Pond, I suppose, could mean a luxurious existence for corporate man who spend all of his life making projects, executing programs, crafting policies and decisions for the business and all that could mean but one thing: work. When some of my friends had decided to spend a whole week vacation, I suggest to them to spend it in Arkansas. I told them that they could try Arkansas Fishing and try to stay in an Arkansas Cabin which most vacationers used to do when they visit the place. It is a totally different experience to live in a riverside cabin and fish ala-Thoreau when he stayed in the Walden Pond. You may not be there to discover some important philosophical thoughts, but of course, you will discover a lot about existence.

The only known time of the year when people mostly stays in their houses if not going somewhere else to spend their vacation is the time of summer. But the hot weather may cause discomfort for you. Therefore, “preparing” for your summer in your home will help you to enjoy the summer vacation even without living abode.

Various things can be done prior to this process. For example, cleaning of the parts of the house where air travels in and out to have good ventilation system. Another tip is that if possible, you must put indoor plants inside your house to give your house a cooler aura for plants gives off oxygen. You can also clean and remove all unnecessary things inside your house to make it appear more spacious. If your budget permits, you can paint the walls of your house with cool colors such as green and blue. Outside your house, you can do simply  enjoy the summer like putting up small shades for you to stay while taking your nap. You can also build small table outside your house and eat there during lunch time.

All of these are simple tips to make your home a place worthy to stay during the time of summer especially when you can’t afford to go to other places. Simple home management will make you proud of your home.
