We are now living in a modern world and we have modern homes now. It is then just right that we have modern furniture to fit the new face of our modern home. In your living room, you need to have a Modern sofa. That way, your visitors will feel great whenever they wait for you to come out or for other reasons that they need to wait for. In your room, you need to have a Modern bed, perfect for you and your wife and even for your kids. That way, your sleep will be really tight and sound. You must also have Modern coffee table. That way, you will enjoy drinking hot coffee with your guests or with your family. Everything should be modern in order to be in line with the age of modernity.

The problem now is where you can possibly get all these modern furniture sets at a very cheap price. I mean, since you are after modern stuffs, it is expected that you will spend much money for it. But this is actually a mistake. There is no need for you to spend much because there are websites over the internet such as farrelli.com that represents companies that sell modern furniture at very affordable prices. That way, you can get all of these modern furniture sets at a very affordable price, without compromising quality of course.

This might be caused by damages brought by calamities, such as typhoons, fires or even if you have just thought that the need for it is necessary. Whatever the reason is, the fact of the matter is that when it comes to remodeling some parts of your home, you’ve got to have the best partners that you can have.

One of the areas in your home that you should take into consideration when you are thinking of remodeling process is your bathroom. It is considered to be the most important part of your home and bathroom remodeling is not a matter that you should just ignore or take for granted.

Did it ever occur to you that your home might just be a perfect venue for you to be physically fit and healthy? I mean, of course, there are others that would prefer being in the gym for the rest of the day trying to lose that weight they are trying to get rid of but don’t you think it is impractical when you know you can do it on your own home? You might ask how you are supposed to do this. The answer is very much simple. You just need to purchase so exercising tools, weights and the like and if you want to make it more effective and efficient and if you are really determined to lose weight, be fit and healthy, make use of the now famous hcg diet. With such diet, you don’t have to worry anymore about compromising your health with all of those other diets that are found in the market.

The key for a diet to be successful is that it should be VLCD or very low calorie diet. However, there are backdrops with this. You might just end up feeling muscle pains and cramps and that is not just good for being healthy. If you want to achieve that perfect figure, while exercising at home, you can have hcg injections or oral hcg. Either of the two will be of great help for you. Do you know why? Because they serve as support to your diet and prevents you from experiencing some abnormalities like muscle pains and the like. You should really try this out now and see the difference they can make.

If you want to develop your home, you should not just focus on its inside but you should also give your attention to its outside surroundings. One of the most irritating problems that a home owner can encounter when beautifying his or her home is the problem of tall grasses that abounds just outside his or her home. It will be so easy if these grasses disappear once uprooted but the problem’s they don’t. They just keep on coming back and so there is a need for you to use some sort of machinery. If you have tall grasses in your surroundings, it will serve you best to make use of mountfield lawnmowers.

If you are not yet aware of it, mountfield mowers are best used to deal with the problem of grasses that are abundant in the premises of your home. I am sure that you don’t want your home to be invaded by tall grasses but I am also sure that you don’t want your hands be dirty in trying to remove these grasses. I know about this because I have already experienced such problem and the remedy I thought was to purchase mountfield petrol lawnmowers and it really worked. With just few days of use, my home now seems to be cleaner, both inside and outside.

Every part of your home should be taken care of and so you should do whatever it takes for you to make that happen. If you want to make your home look beautiful and clean, make sure you clean it not just inside but also outside.

But did you know that keeping tropical fish in an aquarium can reduce stress and relieve nervous tension.

Imagine sitting in a room where the only light comes from a fish tank. Behind the glass a variety of colorful fine streams of bubbles. Some fish probe the crevices between rocks; others sift gravel searching for hidden tidbits. Without even realizing it, you might spend hours enjoying the playful antics of your fish. If a tropical fish hobby sounds interesting to you, the following advice will help you get started.

Equipment

Most pet store dealers have complete setups that include an all-glass aquarium (the 29-gallon size is best, but a 10-gallon tank will work too), air pump with tubing and air stones, under gravel and box filters, and even plastic ornamental and plants.

An aquarium kit is perhaps best. It will give you the basic equipment to work with and, more important, the opportunity to meet a reputable pet dealer. His advice will be invaluable in the future.

Since you’re new to the hobby, this might be the simplest way to go. But if you’re more adventurous (and cost-conscious too), you might find most of what you need at some neighborhood yard sale. Before you purchase from this and other similar sources, however, be sure the aquarium holds water and has a cover with a working light. The air pump should produce a steady and firm flow. Check out heaters to see that the glass isn’t cracked and that the heating element is free of rust.

Setup

You need to run a new aquarium for at least a week before adding your first a few fish, so don’t purchase any fish with your kit (although live plants and snails are OK). After rinsing out the tank and installing the undergravel filter (I prefer these even with smaller, 10-gallon aquariums because they promote the growth of helpful bacteria that break down fish wastes), you can begin constructing and underwater habitat. You should wash the gravel, whether it comes from the store or some riverbed. Coarse gravel makes the best substrate.

I like to use rocks collected from my yard, which I wash and settle into shelves near the back of the aquarium. Those hold down plants and look more natural. Driftwood is nice too, but it must be well aged, or your aquarium will look like a huge glass of dark tea.

About plans, although plastic plants are both natural-looking and trouble-free, I still like live plants. Many live plants are available to the hobbyist. Some of the most suitable are eelgrass, giant sagittaria, and elodea.

Once you have everything in place, it’s time to add water. Pour the water over folded sheets of newspaper or into a dish to keep it from destroying your arrangement. Don’t worry about some initial cloudiness; it should clear up within a day. If you live in an area where tap water is chemically treated with chlorine or chloramines, you will have to use special conditioners to neutralize the water. Ask you pet dealer about his. When the aquarium is filled halfway, you may find it easier to add plants and adjust your rocks and other decorations. After the tank is filled, you can hook up airlines to filters and test the heating system. It may take a few days checking with an aquarium thermometer and allowing the heater’s thermostat to regulate things for the water to settle to the recommended 78°F.

Selecting the Fish

Give your new aquarium some time to balance, and you’ll be creating the healthiest environment possible for your fish. This conditioning period serves to age the water, allowing any impurities to dissipate and bacteria to begin cycling wastes. Spend this first week developing a daily schedule for feeding times (twice a day) and daylight hours (remember, your fish tank is not a nightlight; fish need sleep too).

On your first visit to a pet store you’ll discover that the selection of tropical fish is enormous. You can choose quiet, harmless goldfish or aggressive, “tank-busting” cichlids. As a general rule for an aquarium of mixed varieties, you will want only those fish considered “peaceful.” I recommend the following, grouped according to their families, as the best choices for a community tank:

Carplike fish

This family is one of the largest, including minnows, barbs, and goldfish. Although some of these (like tiger barbs) are less suitable because they are notorious fin nippers, many in this group stand out as excellent for your fish community. Zebra danios and white clouds are among the favorites, mostly because of their bright colors and active schooling behaviors.

Live-bearers

Because of their hardiness, range of colors, and easy breeding, live-bearers are the most popular with beginners. They are, however, best kept in a tank by themselves, since they prefer hard water. Live-bearers include guppies, black mollies, swordtails, and platies.

Catfish

No community tank should be without at least one or two catfish. They are wonderful bottom scavengers and perform an essential job cleaning up leftover food.

Tetras

Tetras belong to the Characin family, which also includes piranha. Small species from the Amazon River are well suited to the community aquarium, however, and can safely be kept with carplike fish, catfish, dwarf cichlids, and labyrinth fish. There are cardinal tetras, serape tetras, and the most popular aquarium fish in the world, neon tetras.

Cichlids

Unquestionably the most interesting cichlids are the angelfish. Their different sizes and colors, and their quiet temperaments (uncharacteristic of most cichlids), make them wonderful fish for a community aquarium. Some hobbyists prefer to have a thankful of nothing but angelfish. Dwarf cichlids also behave themselves well in aquarium. One of them, the Kribensis, is not only colorful and active, but has along life span.

Labyrinth fish

This family of fish is very unusual. Labyrinth fish have the ability to breathe air directly form the water’s surface. Popular community fish in this group are kissing gourami, dwarf gourami, and blue gourami.

Start your aquarium with only three or four fish for the first month. After you bring them home, acclimate them slowly by floating their container (usually a plastic bag) in your aquarium for 30 minutes. This will reduce stressing the fish from sudden temperature change. At the end of one month you can begin building your whole fish community. The only caution here is not to overcrowd. Generally speaking, in a filtered system you can keep three one-inch fish to every gallon of water.

Maintenance

Now that you’re tropical fish aquarist, there’s some responsibility that goes with the hobby.

To begin with, you will need a few supplies: fish nets, an algae scraper, gravel vacuum, test kits, and of course, fish food. Like your daily feeding schedule, you’ll also want to make a regular schedule for testing water quality, changing water, and cleaning the aquarium. Pt shop dealers have test kits that monitor almost everything imaginable. I suggest you get kits for testing pH, hardness, and nitrites.

Make sure you change 20 percent of your water every two weeks, after first vacuuming the gravel to remove unwanted sediment. Algae are beneficial to fish, so I only scrape them from the front and side panels for better viewing.

The only other essential part of maintain your community tanks is feeding. Dry flake foods are fine, but I live or frozen foods like mealworms, tubifex worms, shrimp, and plankton.

If you’re like me, your first community aquarium might lead to a whole roomful of freshwater and even marine systems. Fish keeping is a wonderful, educational and relaxing hobby that the whole families will enjoy. And who knows? You might even turn your hobby to profit by breeding tropical fish.

Like the ever-present coconut, sometimes called the Philippine “tree of life,” the bountiful bamboo is certainly a most common member of the country’s flora. Of the known 200 species and 23 genera, 30 species and six genera – both indigenous and introduced – are found in the Philippines. Undoubtedly the tallest giant of the grass family, it grows rapidly during the rainy season on a daily average of 30 to 40 centimeters.

The main function of the bamboo for Filipino is as a construction material. The posts, beams, and framework of many of our rural houses are made out of bamboo. Split bamboos can serve as roof tiles. When woven they can be made into sawali for sidings and partitions. Bamboo floors when waxed and polished have a beautiful finish. And bamboo slats can be used instead of iron bars for concrete construction.

Dr. Isagani R. Medina, professor of Philippine history at the University of the Philippines, mentions innumerable uses of bamboo in his article which is included in the encyclopedic Filipino Heritage series. Consider some of these samples, just to select a few from his formidable list.

In the absence of metal or plastic containers, long bamboo internode tubes are used for fetching water. Even Dr. Jose Rizal, as an exile in Dapitan, constructed a dam in 1894 which conveyed water to the town through bamboo conduits.

Bamboo skewers are used for barbecuing meat (tapa), dried fish, bananas, or sweet potatoes. Bamboo sticks are used as handles for ice-drop.

Native rice cakes are steamed on a platform made of bamboo slats. And puto bumbong, a Filipino delicacy made of glutinous rice, is also steamed in bamboo tubes.

Split bamboos are woven into flat baskets called bilao for winnowing palay, bithay, for sifting pounded rice; bakol, as a container for cereals and other produce; kaing or tiklis, for holding fruits and vegetables; and lastay or titay, for smoking tinapa.

Bamboo furniture run the whole gamut from chairs to tables, benches, stools, sofas, papag (bamboo beds), and aparador(cabinet). Bamboos are also made into hammocks, screens, lampshades, canes, fans, combs, flower vases, clothespins, decorative chains, backscratchers, coconut milk sieves, salakots(wide-brimmed hats), etc.

Clothes are stored in native suitcases made of shaved bamboo called tapipi.

Coin savings are deposited in a bamboo alkansiya or bank.

Chickens and other fowls are transported in a bamboo basket known as balutang.

A bamboo pole balanced across the carrier’s shoulder, called sisiw by Ilokanos and pingga by Tagalogs, is used by aguadores and vendors of taho, puto kutsinta, and other wares.

The bamboo paminggalan or cupboard is a standard part of most Filipino provincial homes.

The labong or young edible shoot is considered a succulent delicacy, sometimes made into atsara or mixed with other ingredients in lumpia.

Various bamboo paraphernalia are used in fishing – the baklad, salakab, salambaw, etc. For water transportation bamboo rafts(balsa) and tikin(boatman’s pole) are used.

In agriculture Filipino farmers use bamboo dibble sticks in planting. Bamboo sleds and carts are employed for transporting. Cart caravans from Pangasinan travel all over Luzon selling different products mostly made out of bamboo.

The sungkit, a long bamboo pole with a hook or a blade at one end, is used for picking fruits from tall trees.

A wide assortment of musical instruments – wind, stringed, or percussion – have been made out of bamboo. This is evidenced by the bamboo organ at Las Piñas which was constructed by Fr. Diego de Cera dela Virgen del Carmen in 1816, to the Musikong Bumbong of Bulakan and now the famous Pangkat Kawayan.

Our fietas would less festive without the bamboo palo sebo and the bamboo pabitin. And something will be missing in the Santacruzan if the procession does not pass under some bamboo arches.
